![]() ![]() Cakewalk, which is also very capable, is also free! If you really need Logic or Ableton for composition, great, but if saving money is a factor (and after dropping $ for the NI gear and bundle, it will be), maybe the DAW is one area where you can go inexpensive and work your way up if you need to for some reason. I'm partial to REAPER over most other DAWs because it's capable yet inexpensive. It's a bit cheaper and every bit as functional. I would say get the S49 unless you know you'll need more than that number of keys for your performances. But that's trivial compared to what you get in the bundle already. ![]() You'll still want some additional tools for other uses, however - specifically when it comes to audio effects and the like. The Komplete Kontrol software with the S49 or S61 is a dream to use. You should know that the S61 and Komplete 13 bundle will provide you with a very rich and deep sound/music capability, as within their ecosystem you've got an overwhelming suite of tools just sitting there waiting to be exploited. īefore I unplug everything and put it in the closet and spend $1500 of my annual bonus on an entirely new NI setup. ![]() I'd probably stick with Logic (since I'm on a brand new top of the line Mac Mini), because Ableton's interface is so frightening on a Mac :-) but. and I am seriously thinking about FINALLY taking my friend's advice and going for Komplete 13 and the S61, and just mothballing everything else. I just noticed that Guy has a full NI setup. The way he uses his tools - keyboard, software, etc - feels very "familiar" to me, and like it would fit more naturally into my way of working with music. I ignored his advice, of course, and went about assembling this weird hodgepodge of equipment over the last year or so.īut, as a fan of Guy Michelmore on YouTube, I love watching his workflow and how he develops ideas. blah blah blah.Įverything kinda works but nothing just works perfectly all the time.Ī pro audio friend who does film and tv suggested (long ago) that I just go with Native Instruments hardware and software because it's just such a good environment to work in. blofeld desktop, bass station II, Logic Pro, ableton, acid, reason, ROLI LUMIkeys, MIDI controllers, basses and guitars, VSTs. I'm frustrated with my hodgepodge of equipment. ![]()
